Residential Design

The 9 month Residential Design diploma program provides a hands-on approach to education that develops students’ strengths in the design of three-dimensional space. Students will learn the basics of residential design and space planning as well as the use of fixtures and furnishings. In addition to these design elements, students will also focus on the communications skills and professionalism that are necessary to succeed in this field.

The Residential Design diploma program was born out of feedback from industry professionals who indicated a need for graduates with skills they will acquire in this course. Residential design businesses are growing concurrent with national prosperity. There are many types of specialty stores that employ residential designers in positions that typically require some skills in interior design. This diploma provides the hands-on instruction needed to prepare students for the growing entry-level opportunities available.

This diploma program is a prerequisite for the Advanced Diploma program in Interior Design.

A graduate of the Residential Design Diploma Program will be prepared for entry-level postions such as: Facilities Planner; Visual Merchandiser; Residential Planner; Draftsperson, Manufacturer’s Representative; Design Consultant; and Showroom Coordinator.
